Meade is proud to be part of the CTA’s Red and Purple Line modernization program and on November 19, 2021, a major improvement was completed. A new bypass will in effect take the Brown Line trains over the Red/Purple Line tracks, easing congestion. This improvement is a small piece to a much larger project aimed at making the city’s busiest line more efficient, replacing 100-year-old infrastructure and adding accessibility to stations that still don’t have it.
Next up: Completely rebuild 4 CTA stations between Lawrence and Bryn Mawr.
That should be complete by the end of 2024.
